Continue to work on your Biomes Research Paper during your two, 30 minute homework sessions this week.

Due to the Homework Moratorium, the Adaptive Radiation Final Copy has been pushed back.  You now have a choice of when to turn in the Final Copy:

You may either turn it in sometime before the holiday break OR immediately following the holiday break.

Check your Google Docs for the commented Rough Draft that was shared with you on Monday, Dec 6.

You will recall that this project was assigned before the homework moratorium was made known, and was worked on with the assumption that the due date would not change.  The due date has now been pushed back.

Ecology Assessment will be given during two class periods next week.  During the assessment, you may have with you one page of normal-sized paper, on which you may HAND WRITE any information that will assist you in answering the three essay questions.

The three essay questions have been shared with you as a google doc called "Ecology Exam"

You will be given two class periods to prepare your notes page and study for this exam, and two periods to take the exam itself.  If you want to, you certainly may study over the weekend and\or loan an ecology text book.

The Rough Draft for the Adaptive Radiation Project is due on Thursday, December 2, 2010.
It was assigned on November 23 and we've spent 4 class periods working on this project.
The Final Draft will be pushed back to Tuesday, December 14, but can be turned in any time on or before that date.

Defensive Strategies PPT presentations (to be assigned on Dec 6th and 7th) are due on the following dates:
7G:  Friday, December 10th
7V: Thursday, December 9th
These project will be done entirely in class.

A cumulative Introduction to Ecology assessment is upcoming before the holiday break.  You are permitted to use one page (both sides) of 8.5 x 11 paper to hand-write any notes or concepts that you wish to use during the assessment.  We will discuss details of the assessment in class.  The assessment will be on the following dates:
7G: Monday, December 13
7V: Monday and Tuesday, December 13 and 14

Public Discourse will start back up after the holiday break.

Systems Lab Report:  Due on Thursday, November 18Mosquito Sampling Activity:  Due on Tuesday, November 16

Population Ecology Scenario Packet:  On or before Friday, November 19.

Public DIscourse:  Friday, November 19.

In order to avoid procrastination, I STRONGLY recommend that you have completed by this Friday, November 5 the following sections of your lab report:

Question
Background Information and Introduction to your experiment
Hypothesis
Materials
Procedure
Variables

We are wrapping up our experiments on Friday.  These sections can be completed before the experiment is completed.  Next week, you must spend time analyzing and interpreting your data, as well as evaluating your experimental design and drawing conclusions.  If the above mentioned sections are not completed by this Friday, you will have twice as much work to do next week!

Use the Lab Report guidelines (found under the Students tab) to assist you in completing this activity.

Complete the Ecological Organization page for your chosen ecosystem for tomorrow's class.

Do not forget to have your three sources cited according to MLA format and your Hypothesis written for the due dates listed below.

Three sources cited according to MLA Format must be compiled and used to create a hypothesis in the "If...Then..." format by your last science class this week.

7V: Thursday October 28

7G: Friday October 29

Use the sources to gather information regarding the specific question you are trying to answer with your plant growth experiment.  Use those sources to educate yourself and create a good hypothesis.
