SCIENCE!

The jungles of Earth are sometimes so thick and remote that explorers have not penetrated into the deepest, darkest reaches of them.  Within the inner-most areas of these isolated and dense jungles, tribes of humans live as they have for thousands of years, having never been contacted by the outside world!

There are a few dozen tribes of people who have never been contacted by the outside world.  They are documented using airplanes, the locations of their villages are mapped and the forests around them are deemed "off limits" to logging and hunting to preserve the people's way of life.

A previously unknown tribe in the rain forests of Western Brazil has been photographed using an airplane for the first time.  Logging companies are already too-close for comfort to the tribe's villages.

Should this tribe be contacted or left alone?

I believe that this tribe should be contacted because as one of the people said in the article : "We're trying to encourage the view that these are evolving societies," she said. "They're not stuck in the Dark Ages. We want people to see them as something that can be part of our future." They are not stuck in the Dark ages, so they should be able to know that their are other people out their in the world, and there could be alot to experience, and we can hear about how they have lived for many years, and the feeling of now knowing their is other people out there, other than their tribe..

I think they should absolutely not be contacted. I think natural history that has been kept in that tribe is very traditional and if contacted they will loose that and be very confused. They can pass their knowledge on to generations after. This discovery of this tribe i think shows that people still go by what their parents say and traditions that have been carried on for centuries. If they are contacted they will be so confused and the resources will be different and maybe they wont be used to it and might die or get ill... If that made any sense..

NO, they definitely should not be contacted. They have their own way of life, their own traditions, and they have managed to live for how ever long with out our help, which is incredible and should not be destroyed. I also believe if contacted they will be something for the press and scientists to mess around with, basically treating them like Ginny pigs. I also don't believe they will fit in very well.

I have two sides to this opinion. I believe from one point of view they should not be contacted because they have lived like this for so long, that it would be rude to take all their lifestyles away from them just to be like us. They are humans just like us, and just because they haven't had contact with other humans before doesn't mean they are any less different. They have their own fantastic ways of life, and they should not give that up. However saying this I also think it would be good to contact them because it gives them a chance to see what the outside world looks like. It gives them new experiences and new adaptions. However these new adaptions might be hard for them to handle since they are used to one thing.

Before any decision is made, I think we should give them the benefit of the doubt and see how advanced / successful their lives already are. Obviously, if they are living naturally off the land an they are thriving living from only what they have now, then there is no need to contact them. But at the same time, we might want to learn what makes them to successful (if they are). So I would see why we WOULD contact them, but personally I do not think we should.

I think that the people should not be contacted because of the past experience we have had with un contacted tribes. They could be dangerous, but we could also be harmful to the them. Our advanced technology, disease, medication, and other harmful bacteria that we posses in our body, they might have no immunity towards. I say let them be, they seem to be peaceful and happy where they are.

I believe that whether the outside world makes contact with the said tribe is not for us to decide. I have to disagree with Amani and her quote. When this woman is talking about this tribe being in the dark ages. I doubt that she knows the inner workings of such a society. These people may be in a golden age in which there is nothing but peace, unleashing western ideals onto these people would cause nothing but violence among them, and these people who are talking about helping them would not take responsibility for it.
