Take a look through these two recent articles about some of the benefits and concerns over genetically modified crops.

Have either of these articles changed your opinion about whether genetically modified (GM) crops are a good or bad thing, overall?

I never had anything against modified crops so by reading the articles they haven't really swayed my thoughts that much.

I think that genetically modified crops is a really good thing, because it means we can produce more food at less of a cost!!!! If I were to try to find a bad side to genetically modified crops it would be that the insects that live on the crops might find it hard to survive on them if the crops have some sort of "anti bug" thing to them (I remember Mr.E saying that corn crops had that). This is obviously for nice insencts. However, if there was a crop that still allowed bugs to eat them, it might mean more reproduction of the "nasty bugs". It's hard to describe.....

I am all for genetically modified crops.

I couldn't open the first website a few minutes ago.....but I have managed now and I can see there are also some other problems to do with genetically modified crops.

with genetically modified crops we will be able to make more enriched food with more vitamins and things we need just like the Belgian blue cow with its DNA mutation people put in to them. using this it will also help the poorer people to be able to eat an nutritious dinner that has everything they need for a healthy diet.

I think that genetically modified crops are actually really good because like Meg its cheaper cost and we get more food, its a no brainier. Some people think its a bad thing because you have to let it grown natural but i can disagree

I think that GM crops are a good thing because they keep farmers in business. Especially in places where they are having droughts and the farmers are going broke. It also means that the cost of things are lower for us because there's more being produced.

I think that genetically modified crops will be better for farmers and super markets because they will have more money from the crops. I totally agree with Kian, Meg, James and William they all say what i want to say. The more food the more we can give to countries that don`t have much food and if we genetically modified the crops all over the world there might not be anymore world hunger.

genetically modified crops are B A D- its just not natural and in my experence food tastes alot better when it looks bad. what they do is make it look good and fiddle with the tast. this makes the perfection in every foods taste come out of balance. alot of food like watermelon or strawberries have been modified to taste and look "better" but they dont. this is really lazy and is not good for anyone who cares about nature i dislike it alot... and its terrible.

I agree with Robert...people are getting lazier and lazier, just relying on technology!

Without even reading the articles I can predict that even though corn made to benefit will obviously benefit humans in many ways it is bad for the environment and is totally UN-natural. In the article it says farmers/scientists introduced a gene which kills corn borers and increases yields, this may sound amazing to hungry people but do you really want to be eating food that has been made artificially to fit our needs? One thing i think people enjoy about this corn that makes them forget about whats used to make it and how to much of it could ruin our environment is the amount of money it costs this corn is exceptionally cheep compered to most, because it is produced in such a way that creates more corn which means farmers need less land, less water, less seeds etc. Corn however is said to be made by man and that the corn/maize that we know today cannot survive in the wild, so if this article was directed to a vegetable natural from the beginning I would defiantly stand against it, however it is about corn so I am not too shore whether making corn better artificially is totally wrong.

General modification is really good because you can get more crops out of it for the same amount of work. the same ass if we do it to cows we get more meat from it it is a way of saving more time and people energy. I ager with meg she is right it will be more that cost less also. with more food to go around it will be much betta.

I agree with Leelou and Robert People are getting more lazier and not wanting to do as much work people are getting greedy and wont more money.If we modification more things we will have more food but we shouldn't over do it because then wee will have to much i also think it is a lil crawl to the animals because they dont like it have to carry all that wait around. I have alot of different observation her on this and different point to prove.

I think having the code is good because we can farm more crops in smaller space. we can also prevent bug eating them. with the code we can also change it to taste better. anyways food is food it dosnt make a difference if it natural or not its food and we shouldn't waste it.

i dont really have anything against these crops but now if you think about it me or you we dont really think about what we eat and whats in it. its better for people because it can help people all over the world with food

Well this is a good and bad thing because sure the GM crops are making farmers more money and more people can have more food (especially the less fortunate) and more of this and more of that... But what if lets say, in the next five years some scientist's finds something toxic/poisonous/bad in the GM crops? By that time people would have consumed well over one hundred or ore of these GM products so whatever the scientists found would be well into their system..Natural will always taste better so it's actually up to the preference of the person who eats GM crops.

The problem with genetically modified granola that is resistant to herbicide is that it is hard to kill. Now that it is spreading to unwanted areas that means that it is going to be a major problem.

It is good however that corn can be modified with the BT bacteria to kill the bugs and non gm crops next to it will not have the bugs. That means that if gm crops are bad for you, the non-gm crops next to it will be good and productive.

It seems from the fist article that GM is a major problem; however from the second article it is starting to look more positive but we still need to know what BT does to humans as it could be dangerous. We need to be very careful when we interfere with nature.

I completely agree with Robert.

From reading both these sites. My eyes went to the site that talked about how genetically modified foods are bad. As Robert says from experiences in eating foods from all around the world i think that foods that are natural and grow naturally with life are nicer and taste better whereas, unnatural foods that have grown on foods with pills in them that make animals grow faster taste unnatural and different to fresh and natural foods

i disagree with every one i have a different thought just because we might be getting more food buy doing that dosent me we need to do it and who cares if we are getting lazier we have robots and things to do it for us we dont need to do that the is the

I think that with these genetically modified crops we could have more food to provide for the world at a very small cost than regular food. If they did make them the insects would probably eat all of it so they would have to come up with something to keep the bugs away.

i think its awesome because now we have way more different types of food plus weve gotten a bunch of scientific things out of our heads plus we get more advanced in life so basically we start advancing in life and we will eventually surpass human technology and move on to alien technology

To me it doesn't matter, but if there is a cheaper, that taste better and is good for the farmers and supermarkets i think that it should be used and allowed. I agree with everyone.

I think that modified crops are very good because they let people have more of the food on something like corn or wheat and it is easier to make to eat and therefore everyone benefits from it a mostly the people that can't afford to buy most foods.

I think that genetically modifying crops has a good side and a bad side to it. I think that the bad side to it is that like Robert said it is not natural for the crop and that it is not the way that they were naturally growing. But I thing that they are also good because with them genetically modified we could feed more people this is a very good thing about this plant. I would have to say that I am more for genetically modified crops.
