SCIENCE!

So... What is Science?  What can Science, as a method or procedure, do?  Is it limited?  If so, by what?

I think that Science is life and reality. In my eyes science is a rollercoaster you discover a new thing and then when you finish it you know you can get back on and you will never stop repeating that sequence.

I think science is numerous amounts of ways of looking at living and non living things on and of the earth. Science is one way of uncovering information that no-one on earth has ever even dreamed of. Every day the way we look at life changes because of science, science is a way of solving the mysteries of life.

Science is a way to make life easyer. Sience is full of mysterys and new things to discover. Sience is a way to see things deffrent than you would every think to look at sience is what or life is are based on.

Science is everything because without science we wouldn`t have know anything about millions of years ago like dinosaurs and early humans. Without science we wouldn`t learn what has happened in the past and what might happen in the future. With science we can create new things and never run out of things to learn about. Our enviorment is a never ending science class.

Samora
4/9/2010 11:57:38 am

I think science is about discovering things you didn't grasp before, it's about making mistakes more than once until you come across what you’re seeking. Science is about fixing problems. I think science can be used in virtually anything since it is all about knowing what you want to fix and how you plan to fix it.

i think science is when you discover new things a old things and its how you understand how or when things were created

I think science is the key to unlocking the doors to humanity, earth , the past, and all living things, and it is the key for us to open our eyes to the vast space beyond.

i think science is limited because what happens after you discover everything or run out of the technology you need?

Science a way to connect with the world, like a channel that passes somewere between us and the earth. people use science to learn and then develop.I t builds on top of each fact leading us to greatness

Joe
6/9/2010 06:51:24 am

I think science is a means of understanding life and ant how things work . and by using science you can unlock a world of mysteries, you can venture into the deep unknown and soon to be known.
science is indeed limited by what we as humans are able to observe and measure qualitative and quantitative). Science is limited to what we can perceive, in the present, and the relatively short past. it is not capable of taking into account what we may discover in the future and of what we may eventually understand about the distant past.

Beccy
6/9/2010 06:53:18 am

I agree with Mimi, but I also think that science is reality. Without it we would be clueless and so we would be lost in thought, like I am caught in the argument of nothing existing and I think it doesn't. Back to science, Science is unlimited, you can't run out of science for it has and always will be in existence. There will never not be a mystery for scientists to solve. Who agrees with me?

Meg
6/9/2010 06:53:22 am

Science is a never ending lesson. Science is the key to a row of never ending doors. There's always more where it came from. Its's not limited because when you think you've found everything out, look at it at a different way, or dig deeper, and your bound to find more. You could think of it as everything.

Beccy
6/9/2010 06:55:51 am

wow ya Joe, ur so right! Everyone's right to me SCIENCE IS EVERYTHING!!!!!!

Chloe :)
6/9/2010 07:43:39 am

Joseph , I think your comment was a very good definition. Beccy I agree with you too , I believe that science is everything, from the air we breath, to the roads our ancestors lay down for us. Science does not stop, some things just have no explanation that we are capable of finding, and it scares some people that we don't know things, but i just think it is fascinating, not to know everything. Science is just like the universe , it will ever end, but that will not stop us from trying to uncover the hidden secrets of it and becoming more intelligent. :) (:

Joe
6/9/2010 08:15:59 am

True that Chloe, i mean not to long ago people believed the earth was flat, just because they couldn't see the other side. its amazing how much we don't know from what we cant see

Abi Maddox
6/9/2010 09:39:41 am

I believe science is the human instinct to progress an advance. Its the instinct to learn and explore were we are were other things are an how we can get there. Science is also that thought in your brain "How can I make this better."

Abi Maddox
6/9/2010 09:45:41 am

Joe- I'm going to have to disagree when you say science is limited because even though human ingenuity cannot exceed to how far science can go. We do know that science is the endless possibilities of learning.

Chloe:)
6/9/2010 10:42:05 am

Yeah @abz thats what i was trying to say before. @Josepho : Yeah it just so cool!

Kenzie
6/9/2010 10:54:46 am

Science is small word with so mean different meanings. Scence can be about life and about different types of organism

Chloe :)
6/9/2010 11:00:39 am

@Kenzie, I agree, P.s> Who r u?

Beccy
6/9/2010 11:16:02 am

Chloe, Abi, Kenzie- I agree with all you guys. Also ya Joe i'de like to know y do u think science is limited and Chloe Kenzie is one of the new people he's in 7V and a lot of us know him from Montessori.

Beccy
6/9/2010 11:18:47 am

Joe: your right I mean I can't get over how stupid people used to be about being afraid of falling off the edge of the world. Hilarious, and why did u think science was limited?

Mr Erdosy
7/9/2010 12:43:20 am

Beccy: Is it right to call people "stupid" for not having the technology to understand certain concepts? Right now, humans do not know what they do not know. There may be something that will look very obvious to future generations but is hidden to us due to our lack of technology, imagination, etc. We are all definitely ignorant of many things. Right now, I could not design a nuclear submarine, for instance.

Sam V - Is it realistic to think that someday we will discovery everything?

Meg - I enjoyed reading your response. I am wary of classifying EVERYTHING within the realm of science, though. Is there anything we can imagine that science cannot offer an explanation toward?

How about: How long is the proper jail term for someone who has robbed a bank?

Can science answer this question?

william
7/9/2010 06:06:27 am

science could tell how long someone should stay in jail for robbing a bank just ask him a simple question and if he has not gone mad form bordem he should stay longer
science is the way of life. science is not limited by anything. if something is impossible to do. solve something else and that will lead to the conclusion of your other question.

beccy
7/9/2010 06:49:58 am

i agree with u will

sam v
7/9/2010 07:14:36 am

mr. erdosy - i think it is realistic that we will discover everything one day because think about it if it comes to where we dont know what else to discover then were done discovering things

sam v
7/9/2010 07:17:30 am

i also agrree with will

Abi
7/9/2010 08:07:42 am

abi - you have a point, however that does not disprove my point. it is of my understanding that we are simply both correct

joe - oops
7/9/2010 08:08:26 am

i put abi as the subject, that was joe, lol

I think that science is based on, resulting in a correct prediction. i also think that science is something we use to answers an hypothesis. using science is solving a question, a way that makes it the exact answers. science is also something that we use to break things down, for example: a science method. Science is a social perspective, because lots of other people come together and collaborate to find out one hypothesis. That is what i think, i believe, is science.

amber b.
7/9/2010 09:01:35 am

i also think like chloe that science its a ever ending cycle but i also disagree because when u can say you answered a question. But sometimes people make mistakes and then fix them but science does stop when you have so much facts and data that you can stop and maybe discover something new and make history. i also think science is history in so many ways because we would now nothing about anything if we didn't know science. For example when you go to school, you "learn"things that you didn't before. and thats what science dose to the world and our life's. i believe that it ends there. i think that chloe ment science is taking the world and look at it in a whole new perspective. By doing that scientist have grasp the world in such a different way then we do. thats why there have so many question and hypothesis, that they learn so much then they even thought was posible.

amber
7/9/2010 09:07:38 am

My mistake on my first comment, at the end. I ment to say "Science is a social perspective, because lots of other people come together and collaborate to find out an answer to a hypothesis." Plus it can be more that one answer. I'm also sorry if most of my words are not capitalized.

amber
7/9/2010 09:14:54 am

Science also educates our life's and improves out life style and our brain. SAnd when you understand science, you can really educate yourself.

amber
7/9/2010 09:21:40 am

Science is not limited, it can't be. Because when you answer a question, you can answer it in many different ways. For example: if i asked you what you liked in life and what you like about yourself? These are different question that can be answered in lots of ways, but in away, some question is impossible to answer in one way. For example: if i asked you what do you like? in general. You can say i just like me or i just like my cat. But when it comes down to me asking you , what you like about life, it might go on forever. So it is some think that can take a long time. Maybe that is why science has been is our life's for so long, even before i was born.

simon
8/9/2010 08:39:50 am

i think science is unlimited because in space u never know how big it is.

Devia
8/9/2010 10:28:09 am

I agree with almost all of your thoughts on science. Samora i agree with what you are saying when you say that sience is discovering nnew things that you didnt know about everyday and ven if you dont find what you were looking for you still learn something.

Chelsi ♥
8/9/2010 01:47:30 pm

I think science helps people understand how the world works just a bit more. and sometimes it helps us improve our lives most of the time, but I think as well that some things are best left undiscovered and left alone. You know, natures little secret.. :)

Meg
8/9/2010 08:53:00 pm

Mr Erdosy: Ok, I see your line of thought......though I still think it's possible to find a hint of science in the "robbery of the bank" question. I'll have to think about it..... :)

Mr. Erdosy
8/9/2010 10:42:00 pm

Sam V: If we don't know what else there is to discover, like you mentioned, I don't think that means that we have discovered everything.
Just because we don't know what is out there, doesn't mean that something we don't know about isn't out there.
For example, scientists find new species of animals all of the time. They were not known to exist until they were found.

Kian
9/9/2010 06:33:18 am

I think science creates the world and tells you what's going to happen in the future. Also, science builds our world and puts a label on the technical stuff that we might not even think about doing. Science is limited because there's only so many things you could do with it.

@ Nykolas- I'm not sure if I understand what you mean when you say 'being able to create or travel the world showing poeple what you have created'. Do you mean inventing something and being able to present your invention to people globally?

11/9/2010 03:42:49 am

I think that science's only limitation is what we are capable of doing. I think science has no other limitation, it can do anthing anser any questoin if we were capable of it. At the momant we aren't smart enough. I also agre with jason, kian, kj, david, and Nyko.

sean
11/9/2010 04:46:45 am

I also belve that we will never discover every thing. Even if we did discover everythin we would keep looking becase we would not know that we had desoverd every thing. I disagre with what Sam V said on tuesday becase I dont think we will discover everything. Howeve I do agre with him that we may not know what to discover but that does not mean that we will have discovered every thing. I also agre with what willam said on tusday about a discovery leading to a discovery. In the futcher we may forget something and have to redisover infomation that was lost without ever knowing it had ever been discoverd before becuse it was origanaly desoverd so long ago. I also agre with Joseph's first coment because its prety much the same thing as mine only in deferent words.

I think that science is something that we use to understand how the world works. Science can help us identify unusual things such as new species, new plants etc. Science can predict what will happen in the future and what has happened in the past based on evidence that we find everyday. I think that science is limited because of the data that may be missing or incorrect.

i agree with meg "science is a never ending lesson." but scince is only limited by your imagination. scince can help use discover planits father the we could 10 years ago. science can also find out what time did you wake up. scince can find the most simpelist things and the most amazing things you can ever imagin.

Niamh :)

Science gives us a reason and a way to explore new things and discover amazing possibilities. It is a never ending record of questions both answered and unanswered. It is fuelled by curiosity and fulfilled by knowledge.

P.S. Hi everybody, it's Niamh and I am in my new house in Scotland now!!! :)
